While you have probably noticed the icon on this blog, I don't think I have really explained its significance. Here's an article from last year that explains it a little bit:
However, what I do want to draw attention to is the attitude of the previous Patriarch and the Russian Orthodox Church in general towards 12 Step programs. You can see how open they are to using the Steps within their own context.
I know some priests here in the US are afraid of AA and other groups because they are 'not Orthodox.' They would do well to read this article and see how the other local churches of the Orthodox Church are handling addictions.
